Back to School Weekend -- Aug. 13 and 14
An entire weekend of Back to School fun, worship and music is being planned for Saturday, Aug. 13, and Sunday, Aug. 14, at First United Methodist Church.
An expansion of our annual Blessing of the Backpacks and Binders, this weekend of activities includes the “Return” event on Saturday evening with music, fun and food; the Backpack blessings and guest speaker on Sunday morning; and special youth-related activities Sunday afternoon and evening.
A sermon series based on the book “Book, Bath, Table and Time” by Fred P. Edie, will also start Aug. 14.
Saturday, Aug. 13 -
The “Return” Event
5 to 6 p.m. — Free hot dogs and sno cones for the entire family on the parking lot/Fellowship Hall. Back to school crafts table for kids in the Trinity Lobby.
6 to 7 p.m. — Music from the GNC Praise Band presented in the Great Hall
7 to 8 p.m. — Guest Speaker Jay Gamelin (some of our Youth heard him speak at Veritas 2010!). (www.jaygamelin.com)
8 to 9 p.m. — Music by The Advice (theadviceband.com).

A Day with Jay Gamelin
and Blessing of the
Backpacks & Binders
All three worship services (8:45, 9 and 11 a.m.) — Blessing of the Backpacks and Binders
10 a.m. – Jay Gamelin speaking in the Great Hall
3 p.m. – Jay Gamelin workshop for Parents of Youth & Children
4 p.m. – Youth Kickoff and Sign Ups
5 p.m. – Youth 101 (for new 7th graders & those new to the Youth Program)
