“God had only one Son and he made that Son a missionary.” David Livingstone
At First United Methodist Church in Conway we are mission-minded. It is important to our faith. This is theologically and biblically based. We follow Christ and His teachings:
“just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:45
“and who is my neighbor” from the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25
“Feed my lambs…..tend my sheep…feed my sheep” from John 21:15 -17.
We support the global ministries of the United Methodist Church. Our congregation supports four missionaries world wide. We support Phyllis Crouse at the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky; Shana Harrison at LaEsperanza in Santiago, Chile, www.laesperanzachile.org ; Helen Byholt Lovelace in ministry in the Ukraine http://gbgm-umc.org//who_we_are/mp/bionewmw.cfm?id=335; and we sponsor a gloabal mission partner in Mozambique.
We support the Arkansas Area Ingathering each November.
We provide hands-on mission opportunities in state and local ministries, as well as international ministries. Conway FUMC has been instrumental in the development of several local ministries such as the Women's Shelter of Central Arkansas and Conway Interfaith Clinic.
