Conway First considers it vital to our faith to be mission minded. We believe it theologically and biblically based to reach beyond our walls into our community and beyond. Our mission participation includes financial support and hands-on involvement.
Ongoing hands-on opportunities for mission include:

  • Arkansas Rice Depot volunteer days: Every fourth Saturday of the month, a group from our church travels to Rice Depot in Little Rock. The group packs sacks of groceries and delivers them to seniors. It usually takes about 3-4 hours in the morning. Children ages 8 and up are welcome.
  • Angel Trees: Our church takes on two Angel Tree projects at Christmas time each year. One tree is filled with angel tags furnished by the Salvation Army for seniors in Faulkner County who have no family. The other tree is for children who are in the court system or are foster children and work with the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. You can participate by taking a tag and providing Christmas gift(s) for one or more of the angels on these trees.
  • Ozark Mission Project: OMP organizes youth and adults to do minor home repair, build wheelchair ramps, do lawn work and other hands-on projects to help families in need. Camps are scattered throughout Arkansas over the summer months. Our youth participate in multiple camps each summer. Adults are always needed to go and lead teams of youth. No experience necessary. You can also support this mission by purchasing stock to support those who go. www.ozarkmissionproject.org
  • Red Cross Blood Drives: Our church typically hosts two blood drives each year in March and October. The Church and Society Committee sponsors these drives.
  • CASA School Supplies Collection: CASA works with many children and youth who are in foster homes and need school supplies that their foster families cannot provide. School supplies are collected late each summer for the Fall semester. Containers are furnished around the church for collection of the supplies. Lists of the most needed items are furnished.
  • Amazing Grace Café: For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. Matthew 25:35 On alternating Thursday nights, FUMC Conway and First Presbyterian Church are offering hot meals free of charge for those who need them. We are always in need of volunteers to help set up, serve and clean up.
  • Food Pantry:  We provide bags of groceries to those in need on Thursdays. Help is always needed to shop for food, fill bags, work with food recipients, etc. You can also support the food pantry by designating a donation to this ministry. 100% of its funding is by donation.
  • Volunteer in Mission Trips: Conway FUMC has supported numerous trips across the city, the state, the nation and the world as part of the Volunteer in Mission program. We hope to plan more trips in the coming years.
  • Arkansas Area Ingathering:  Every November items are collected and taken to a District Ingathering the week before the State Ingathering held at Rice Depot. Items to be collected include:
    • Terry cloth hand towels (no kitchen towels)
    • Metal nail files or fingernail clippers (no emery board or toenail clippers)
    • Children’s blunt scissors
    • Pencil sharpeners (plain, small individual sharpeners with no emblems)
    • Baby sweaters
    • Cloth baby diapers (cloth only)
    • Ruled paper (pad, spiral or looseleaf)
    • Baby gowns or sleepers
