Food and Emergency Outreach at First United Methodist Church

Our Mission Statement

In keeping with our calling to serve God and our neighbors, the Food and Outreach Program of the First United Methodist Church of Conway, Arkansas, strives to provide food and financial relief to those persons who are in need.

Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise. Luke 3:11

Hours of Operation of the Food Pantry

Our food pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00 A.M to Noon, in the hospitality area, except during church holidays. Individuals and households may receive food allocations once per month. Photo identification is required.

Emergency Outreach Assistance

Although no cash is provided, limited financial support in the form of vouchers for utilities, lodging, and prescription medications may be provided depending upon the availability of funds

Purpose and Administration

Our food and financial relief program is for persons unable to provide for themselves and their dependents in emergency situations. This assistance is extended at no charge to all persons on the basis of need alone under guidelines, subject to the approval of the Church Council, established by the Church and Society Committee of the First United Methodist Church of Conway. The church’s Missions Committee provides both material and personnel support.

The following members of the Food and Outreach Subcommittee supervise day-to-day operations of the program:

Please contact Melinda Adams, food pantry coordinator, if you have any questions or concerns.

We Welcome Your Support

Church volunteers who donate their time and resources make the Food and Emergency Outreach Assistance Program possible. Contact Melinda Adams or sign up at the hospitality desk if you would like to volunteer. Donations of nonperishable food items may be left in the grocery-shopping cart located in the hospitality area. We welcome any and all financial contributions. They should be identified as being for the “Food Pantry” or emergency “Outreach” in care of Margaret Taverner, Business Manager of Conway First United Methodist Church. Our food pantry is affiliated with the Rice Depot of Arkansas and the Benevolence Group of Conway.
