Traditional Worship at First United Methodist
At 8:45am and 11:00 am, our traditional services take place in the sanctuary and include all the traditional aspects of worship, including the singing of hymns, sung and spoken liturgy, reading of scripture, a choir-led anthem, and sermon. Our ushers will offer you a printed order of service. It will include page numbers for the hymnal, which is available in the pew rack, and verses for readings from the Bible, which is located under the pew. We usually stand when we sing and recite the liturgy and creeds. We sit to hear announcements and the sermon, as well as during prayer times.
On the first Sunday of every month and on some special Sundays, we celebrate the service of Holy Communion. We practice "open communion," meaning that one does not need to be a member of our congregation or a Methodist in order to participate. Our liturgy says "It is the Lord's table -- and you are welcome."
We welcome all persons to attend and fully participate in all aspects of our worship service. It is our desire to be a welcoming congregation and to help you feel at home.

For generations families and individuals have come into our beautiful sanctuary to find hope, peace and guidance in God's presence. Our services lift up the God of every generation through historic liturgy and hymns of the faith.
