Music Ministries at First United Methodist Church

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” — Psalm 150:6

At First United Methodist Church, we take these words very much to heart.  Our music program strives to include people of all ages and levels of experience and to provide all people with the opportunity and the means to praise God through music.  Our many choirs and instrumental ensembles lead the congregation in worship weekly, and present special programs at various times during the year.  For many, participation in such a group is also a great opportunity for fellowship.  Being involved in the music program is an “all-in-one” way to fulfill your promise to support the church through your prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.

For more information on any of our music ministries, please contact our director of worship and music ministries, Janet Gingerich, via email at or telephone at 501.329.3801.

Otto Hoffman Pipe Organ

Conway First United Methodist Church is home to a 3-manual, 33-rank Otto Hoffman pipe organ that was installed in the sanctuary in approximately 1962.  This current organ replaced an electronic organ that had served the congregation for many years.  Otto Hoffman was an organ builder originally from Louisiana.

The organ is used in both Sunday sanctuary worship services, as well as for sanctuary funerals, weddings, and other worship events.  The organ was revoiced in the late 1980s, and was re-leathered in 2010.  It stands ready and able to lead the congregation in worship and singing for the next 50 years!

Despite an uncooperative pipe organ, we are READY to worship through song tomorrow morning. Join us for “Songs of Praise” in both of tomorrow’s sanctuary services, adding your voice to those of or choirs, bells and brass. Hymns have been selected by members of our congregations, and they have made some great choices. Join us at 8:45 or 11:00 - or stay for both!
We’ll raise the dome another foot or two before the morning is over.

Preparing for our Good Friday “Tenebrae” Service (Service of Darkness) led by our choirs with readers and instrumentalists.
Join us tonight at 6:30 for this powerful, contemplative commemoration of Christ’s final hours on earth through words and music. Lights at dimmed, candles are extinguished, culminating in total darkness at the crucifixion. There is no Easter without Good Friday.

The Forté Handbell Quartet from Colorado Springs, CO will be presenting a concert at First United Methodist Church, Conway, on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 7p.m. as part of their spring tour. Forté is a nationally acclaimed Christian handbell quartet, but they perform a wide variety of styles, including but not limited to Celtic, techno, pop-country, classical, contemporary Christian, and new age. Forté's tagline and motto is "Rethink Possible", so even if you're familiar with handbells, chances are good that you'll see something new and different from the instrument! The concert will be approximately 1.5 hours, including an intermission.
For a preview, check out the group's website or Facebook page. It will quickly become obvious why their tag line is "Rethink Possible." Whether or not you are handbell ringer, you won't want to miss this evening of superb musical entertainment. They are WONDERFUL!
A love offering will be taken.
