College Sunday School Classes

What is College?

“A new step in your life and different than what you’re used to. I think you figure out the side of you that you didn’t think you had.” — Allyson Caruthers, Conway FUMC

College…a pivotal point in life, and we at First United Methodist Church are along for the journey

College Life is for anyone who falls in the undergraduate college age range, post high school to early 20s. We have opportunities for students who attend school in the area as well as those who go away for school. We know that this is a pivotal time in your life … and we want to be along for the journey!

We want to be your church home away from home! College students are welcome at all of our church activities.
8:45 a.m. Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary, with music led by the First Service Singers.
9:00 a.m. Good News Celebration (Contemporary worship), with music led by the Praise Band.
10:00 a.m. Sunday School for all ages
11:00 a.m. Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary, with music led by the Chancel Choir

For more information about College-age activities at Conway FUMC, please contact Rev. Lauren DeLano at ldelano@conwayfumc.org.

Participate in Worship

We love for College students to participate and be involved in our worship services.  We have a special College Sunday each fall to kick off the year. That Sunday, College students are invited to attend and help with worship. We also have a brunch between worship services that day. During the rest of the school year, our worship team will try to utilize interested students in leading and serving during worship.

Small Groups

These form in the fall and spring and cover Bible Studies mixed with true Life Application. These groups last 6-8 weeks and usually meet later in the evenings. Besides fellowship, there is usually good food and coffee involved, too.

Sunday School

Sunday school is a great place to get involved and engage with other people.  Not only do we have adult Sunday school classes that welcome college students and appreciate diversity, we also have a class specifically for college-aged people.  The class explores current events and life issues in light of our faith. It is held each Sunday at 10 a.m., either in the Fellowship Hall or the Parlor in the Trinity building.

ENGAGE... the Raw Tensions, the Real Questions, and the Radical Grace of the Bible

A 20-week spiritual growth experience, developed by Pastor Michael, focusing less on information and more on inspiration.  We will explore the major movements of the Bible, experience creative expressions of faith, and engage in graceful conversations, believing that God wants to meet all of us right where we are.

Faith Families

Students that are attending school in Conway and are interested can be matched with a participating family/person in our church. They will serve as your family-away-from-home. You can decide together how to stay in touch: by phone, email, texting, sitting with each other at church, etc … They will encourage you and send you care packages before big tests and finals.

Prayer Partners

Students that are members of our church and go away to college can participate in this program. You are matched with a participating family that will keep in touch with you while you are off at school. They will keep you updated with what’s going on at church and in Conway. They will also encourage you, pray for you and send you care packages before big tests and finals.
